Before I gonna post some more spring-like photos o Before I gonna post some more spring-like photos on my feed, let me move back to my "two days of snow" for this season, when we visited Aomori at the beginning of December. On our second day - before heading back to Tokyo in the afternoon -, we visited Aomori City and it was actually fun to see all the snow there. Even though this made it a bit hard to walk.

There is plenty to do in Aomori City, already only around a walking distance of Aomori Station:

☆ Visit the Nebuta Museum WA RASSE
☆ See Aomori from above from the observatory at the Aomori Prefecture Tourism Information Center ASPAM
☆ Take a tour through the Memorial Ship Hakkoda-maru
☆ Visit Utou Shrine and Hirota Shrine
☆ Snack through all the dishes and drinks with apples 🍎
☆ Buy all the apple souvenirs - especially at ASPAM and A-Factory!

And for sure, there is much more!
Have you been to Aomori already or are you planning to go?

🌟 Check my Aomori story highlights on my profile for more impressions ♡

For all the cat loving travelers around Tokyo, thi For all the cat loving travelers around Tokyo, this is a must-visit spot! And surely, since the borders are open again, it is getting more crowded there, too. But it is also nice, to see tourism being back somehow.

Gotokuji Temple (豪徳寺) is located in Setagaya Ward and a little train & tram ride out of Tokyo's center. It is known as one of the so-called "birthplace of maneki neko" and so you can see countless lucky cat figures there. They are priced between 300 yen to 5.000 yen, depending on the size.

Would you like to get one of these cute cats?

Today we took the last chance to visit the small e Today we took the last chance to visit the small exhibition of Louis Vuitton × Yayoi Kusama, because it was ending tonight. Even tho it was the last evening, we still had to line up to get inside.

Admission is free anyway and it was fun to take a look around. There are a few nice photo spots and that Yayoi Kusama figure on the second floor is definitely the highlight. You can see the lower part on the first floor.

Surely, the exhibition shows the collaboration items with Louis Vuitton, which are more than out of my price range, but well, at least I got to see them 😂💦

Would this be a place to visit for you?

Dance Festival from Tottori ☂ Another festival w Dance Festival from Tottori ☂
Another festival we could watch at the Furusato Matsuri in Tokyo Dome was the Tottori Shan Shan Matsuro (鳥取しゃんしゃん祭). This festival takes place in the center of Tottori City every year from August 13th to 15th every year.

It is a dance festival with bright colored umbrellas and the dance is simplified for the festival, so that anyone can easily perform it. The festival also includes fireworks, street stalls and more.

The name "Shan Shan" is an allusion to the sound of the water of the natural hot springs bubbling below the city center, as well as to the ringing sound of the bells hanging from the colorful paper umbrellas.

At the Furusato Matsuri they performed three songs this year and they created a fun atmosphere. I felt like standing up and joining in dancing! This definitely made me want to go to Tottori to see this festival.

‼️ Info: Furusato Matsuri is still running until this Sunday (22nd January) at Tokyo Dome. If you have time and are around, don't miss all the festivals and food there. I made a reel about this event.

Everyone is always talking about the famour Aomori Everyone is always talking about the famour Aomori Nebuta Festival, but did you know that there is a similar festival in Hirosaki City, too?

The Hirosaki Neputa Festival (弘前ねぷたまつり) is deeply connected to Aomori Nebuta Festival, and also takes place in early August. You can see about 80 "neputas", large fan-shaped floats depicting epic and fantastic images of warriors, parade through the town. The festival also includes three giant drums, where the biggest one, the Tsugaru Joppari Odaiko, has 3.3 meters in diameter and weighs two tons.

I had the chance to get a small impression of this festival in northern Japan at the Furusato Matsuri, which is taking place in Tokyo every January, and it was really amazing to see the neputa move up and down and all around - and that it is even possible to fold down the upper part. One day, I would love to see the festival in Hirosaki myself.

‼️ Info: Furusato Matsuri is still running until this Sunday (22nd January) at Tokyo Dome. If you have time and are around, don't miss all the festivals and food there. I made a reel about this event.

Did you know that it is Strawberry Day in Japan to Did you know that it is Strawberry Day in Japan today? 🍓 #いいいちごの日

While meaning-wise every month on the 15th strawberry day can be celebrated (because it is 1 and 5 "ichi-go" in Japanese, same sound as "ichigo" which means "strawberry"), on January 15th it is 1-15 "ii ichi-go" (いいいちご), the "good strawberry" day. I love this kind of sound-play in Japanese ♡

Let me use this day as an opportunity to share some strawberries on my feed. One of the popular activites about this yummy fruits, is strawberry picking and I really loving it! Depending on the place you have a time limit and during this you can eat as many strawberries right from the plant. The strawberries are growing in greenhouses, so usually you can enjoy them between mid December to end of May.

My first time doing "ichigo-gari", how strawberry picking is called in Japan, was in Kofu. We stopped there on a road-trip going to watch soccer, and it was a lot of fun. I ate so many strawberries during the 30-minutes time frame 🍓

Have you tried ichigo-gari in Japan before or would you like to do it?

Aomori City from above ❄ When we visited Aomori Aomori City from above ❄
When we visited Aomori City we decided to take a look to the observatory, because I love seeing the view from above a lot. In Aomori City you can do this at the Aomori Prefecture Tourism Information Center ASPAM.

This triangle-shaped building is designed based on the "A" of "Aomori" and was completed in 1986. It has 15 floors and is 76 meters in height. The observatory is located on the 13th floor and offers a 360-degree view from the ocean to the mountains. Admission is 400 yen.

On the ground floors, you can find several shops with souvenirs, exhibition corners and more. Especially, they have some delicious apple pie there, so don't miss stopping by! 🍎

Snow Monkey Park ♨️🐵♨️ I can't believe Snow Monkey Park ♨️🐵♨️
I can't believe that it is already 8 years, since we visited this famous place. I really wish to go there again one day ❄

The Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park (地獄谷野猿公苑) is located in Nagano Prefecture. Buses are going there from Yudanaka Station, Shibu Onsen or Nagano Station. From the bus stop it takes a 30-40 minute walk to the monkey park through the forest and sturdy footwear is recommended!

The admission is 800 yen. For this you can see the Japanese Macaques, also known as Snow Monkeys, walking around the area and taking a bath in the natural hot spring.
